Three ways to incorporate Gross motor into a Christmas party or Christmas vacation. Items needed: Painter's tape - red or green or both Boxes wrapped in various sizes Ribbon Green and red colored shatter-proof ornaments. crumpled up wrapping paper. Activities:
1. Place two different colored lines on the floor. Hand your child a red or green present or ornament. Have them walk down that color line and place the item on the floor at the end of the line. 2. Place one line on the floor. Place wrapped boxes on one end of the line. Have your child walk each present down the line and stack them in order biggest to smallest. 3. Place crumpled up wrapping paper and ribbon on the middle of the floor. Have your child step or jump over the ribbon and wrapping paper. 1. Pulling objects off of tape. For this activity I made an arch with a pool noodle and put painter's tape around the noodle. I placed ball pit balls on the tape and Prudence pulled them off. I also used cut-up pool noodles. I liked using both for variation. 2. Crawling or rolling a ball through the arch. You can set up one arch or multiple. Encourage your child to crawl through the arch or use a ball to roll through the arch. .3. Use balloonsHang balloons down and have your child either hit the balloons or crawl through the tunnel with the balloons hanging down. 4. Placing rings around pool noodles.Cut a pool noodle into two 12 inch pieces or "sticks". Place the two sticks anywhere you would like. Have your child place rings on the pool noodles and also pick the rings up and move them to the other one. 5. Moving cut pool noodlesUse the noodle sticks and place a rod across the sticks. I used a plastic balloon rod and thread cut pool noodles on the rod and taped it to the noodle sticks. We moved the noodle rings back and forth and spun them. As Prudence gets older, we will start counting the rings as we move them.
